"My wife kept urging me to go to sleep, but I couldn't stop reading this gripping book. The all-too-plausible plot combines credibility with pins-and-needles suspense. I loved the characters, and found myself immersed in their struggles. The writing just moves you along in a tight, suspenseful way, with every twist and turn bringing surprise and tension. I can't wait to see the movie, and just wish Bruce Willis were young enough to play Brent Lucas! If you're looking for a book that will grab you, transport you to a world of fiction, but make you think of the consequences if this fiction ever turns into reality, rush to read this great work."

"Armageddon Conspiracy, a new novel by John Thompson, a new writer delivers a very moving and tightly constructed story. For pure enjoyment this book is spectacular, but there is a deeper side to this story that plays back and forth in the territory of current events. The unbelievable and preposterous world present in this book is a shadow of events in the era when politics, business and religion come together. (I plan to have my high school senior English class read the book.) The characters are very well developed and the plot moves one along at a rapid race. The writing is superb."

"Much on film and television these days seems nothing more than bad fiction, when actually films like Religulous and nightly news reports on the economy, the war, and politics are ostensibly true. One can only wish that were not the case. In that vein, nothing could be more timely, entertaining, and informative than John Thompson's debut novel Armageddon Conspiracy. Wall Street, the End of Days, and warring ideologies joined in a deadly pact, all combine in this fast-paced thriller! Thompson's book starts a bit slow, but once your attention is grabbed, you'll stay up late to see if the good guys will win--or if the good guys are really the heroes you hope they will be. It's all here--the Feds, the fanatics, the financial wizards, the finagling--all stimulating hope that Thompson will be back with another equally good read in the future. "

"A great fun read....scary premise because it's so plausible...sorry about the sleep you'll lose because you can't put it down!"
- Beverly Seinsheimer

"Bold and absolutely pitch-perfect, Thompson's narrative moves with fierceness that is part engine and part caboose. He takes no prisoners and leaves no loose ends. He is the real McCoy. As for the watchers and tellers of the world--Thompson will stand as a master observer and storyteller..."

"I was lucky to receive a preview copy of this fun, fast paced, enjoyable vacation read. I enjoyed this book so much that it took me less than 24 hours to read, as I had to find out what was going to happen next. Fans of John Grisham's novels will definitely enjoy the characters and all of the twists and turns in The Armageddon Conspiracy.

I am already eagerly awaiting John Thompson's next book. The rumor is that it will be a sequel to this one. I sense we may have found a worthy successor to Jason Bourne. ENJOY!"
- D. Forster

"If you are a fan of intrigue and conspiracy then you have found yourself the best book of the year. I loved the writing style: fast paced, with a brilliantly crafted narrative that instantly gives you the creeping sense that something very sinister is afoot! This political thriller really hits the ground running with a well-oiled story that keeps your heart thumping with anticipation wondering who dunnit? This is the type of novel you want to read on a sandy beach or stuck in the airport, the story has so many true-to-life plots twists that it's easy to forget you are reading a work of fiction."

"John Grisham is about to take a back seat in the "suspense with intelligence" category! John Thompson's novel is compelling - in great part because he writes with a mastery of complicated political and religious issues and with a "voice" that is totally real and accessible. There is nothing staged or manipulative about the plot; in fact, that is probably what makes the book so engrossing and frightening. At times, I expected to turn on the news and hear that it was all real. Be prepared to block off some time, because once you begin to read ARMAGEDDON CONSPIRACY,you will be unable to focus on anything other than finding out how it all ends."

"While vacationing near Charleston, SC, I picked up Armageddon Conspiracy by John Thompson--primarily because he was doing an author talk on Seabrook Island. All that I can say is what a barn-burner! It's hard to believe that writing is a second career for Thompson--he originally spent 25 years as an investment banker.

Brent Lucas is a financial manager who is hired by Genesis Advisors. He is actually a plant for the U.S. Justice Department which suspects GA of insider trading. Lucas is smart, handsome, and an All-American football player with a bachelors from Yale and an MBA from Stanford. GA's CEO, Prescott Biddle, is an Uber-Christian fanatic who claims to receive his buy-sell messages from God. Most of GA's employees belong to the New Jerusalem Fellowship, "a church dedicated to the most radical and fundamental form of Protestantism with a focus on the approaching End of Days." Biddle seems to be the mastermind of a plot to steal funds from an unsuspecting Saudi and then use the money to purchase weapons from Islamic terrorists. His goal is to force a modern-day Armageddon and to bring about the second coming of Christ. Originally, Lucas is unaware that he was hired to be a part of this horrible plot. Once things start happening, he enlists the help of his former girlfriend, Maggie, who is a cop working with an anti-terrorist task force. Armageddon Conspiracy kept me up late at night--I couldn't wait to find out what happened next!

For a novice, Thompson is an accomplished writer and his plot, his characters, and his dialogue are first rate. But I especially enjoyed his writing style. One of the terrorists, Abu Sayeed is reflecting on Islam and the desert. "Westerners regarded both the land and the religion as inhumanly harsh, yet for Abu Sayeed truth and beauty could be accurately perceived only in utter extremes, either morally or in the physical contrast of life and death." On a negative note, all thrillers have an element of unbelief. In this book, the biggest stretch for me was that fundamental Christians would knowingly murder innocent people and think they were doing God's will.

I was truly surprised with John Thompson and Armageddon Conspiracy. I hope that he has more books in the works. "

"Thompson has created an exciting thriller that you won't be able to put down. Curl up with a fine glass of wine in a comfortable chair as he careens you through a riveting story."
- Laura C. Thompson

"A marvelous first novel. Complex in issues and compelling in Drama. I read it in 2 evenings. Had to get to the finale. Eager to read Thompson's next."
- Layton Mccurdy

"I expected this to be a good summer read, but it proved to also be a fine literary work with all the elements of a compelling story fully fleshed out. The fictional terrorists are quite believable and it is so timely it reads like it was written in full only yesterday. Better than a Tom Clancey novel, this story appeals to strong women much more. If I had the 'next' volume I would have started it immediately after this one."
- Barbara Bingham

"The Armageddon Conspiracy has all the elements of an international thriller with Christian fundamentalists pitted against Muslim terrorists with the FBI and the police thrown in to down the hero, Brent Lucas. Also a love story of redemption, this is a great read which I truly enjoyed. This is the first in what I hope is a series of many more to come."
- Michael V. Dawes

"A great thriller that you can't put down. Subject matter is very relevant in today's environment in more ways than one. What a wonderful first novel from a brilliant writer. Can't wait for the sequel."
- Sarah J. Berndt "mystery lover"

"This is a very well done thriller. Well written and hard to put down. There are lots of levels to the story and is really in tune with the times."
- Nicholas Niles

"Fasten your seat belt before starting Armageddon Conspiracy because you're off to a fast-paced ride across vivid landscape with life-size characters popping up all along the way. It's a thriller that rivals a John Grisham novel for intricate and gripping plot, but quite frankly tops him for character development and description. This novel not only takes you on a pleasure ride of enjoyable plot and fine writing, but is your passport to observe firsthand the worlds of religious fanaticism, international terrorism and Wall Street greed. Thompson must have known he was writing a very topical book, but I doubt he could have anticipated how center-stage the machinations of Wall Street would be a few weeks after its publication. Describing investment bankers as "money vultures" paid "ten times what [they're] worth," Thompson could consider running for political office. But I hope instead he writes another book."
